How it works
- Open your PDF.
- Choose Tools → Header & footer. Pick a preset (Page numbers, Page X of Y or Bates numbers) or type your own text in any of the six positions.
- Adjust the font, size, margin and pages, click Apply, then Download.
Placeholders
Type these anywhere in a header or footer:
{page}: the page number{pages}: the total number of pages{date}: today's date{file}: the file name{bates}: a Bates number such as ABC000001
Questions
Can I skip the cover page?
Yes. Set Pages to 2-. Numbers follow each page's position, so the second page shows 2. Set First page number to 0 if you want it to show 1.
What are Bates numbers?
Sequential identifiers, such as ABC000001, stamped on every page of legal documents. Set the prefix, number of digits and starting number.
